The Cuica is a Brazilian friction drum that features a stick that is fastened inside the drum in the center of the drumhead. Changing the pressure on this head produces different pitches and timbres. The 10-1/2" x 8" brass shell is outfitted with a goatskin head, eight self-aligning drum key tuning lugs, and a strap loop with a nylon strap.
